View larger. | Story In Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2010, players step into the camouflaged shoes of Jack Wilde. A young, confident and skilled hunter and outdoorsman, his potential has been recognized by the mysterious "Orion Order," an ultra-exclusive hunting club with international connections. Even though Jack is still green, the powers that be at Orion are willing to give him a shot at joining, but first he must prove himself worthy. Jack jumps at this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. His test is made up of a series of membership trials against big game and small, in various environments and conditions and utilizing a variety of weapons, skills and techniques. Gameplay Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2010 is played from a first-person perspective featuring a combination of mission play and mini-games that make up the already mentioned hunting trials. Players are guided through structured mission play by their in-game sponsor who contacts them, points them in the right direction and offers tips and warnings in the field as the hunt makes its way across the globe. In each hunt players are graded on a variety of skills ranging from safe navigation across dangerous wilderness terrain, animal tracking, and their abilities at stalking from cover and making clean, efficient kills. Players track game and find their way around the environment using "Hunter's Sense," a type of bullet time in which evidence of animals, varied available cover options to shoot from, specific animal locations and their level of alertness can be seen in a temporarily, slowed down view with on-screen color-coated indicators revealing each. More rapid player movement, including sprint functionality, is available in regular view. Once an animal is sighted in the players weapon scope varying possible point totals are visible on the animal according to where it might be hit with a projectile. These include strikes to the heart, spine, lung and head. During hunts players can quickly and easily change weapons at the push of a button as the trophy animal persuaded requires. In-game weapons range from a variety of rifles, pistols, bows and more which can be unlocked as the game progresses. The ability to correctly use all graded skills gains the player points and medals for each animal players are tasked to bag. In addition to the mission play of big game membership trials, Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2010 also features arcade style, timed mini-game hunts. These are spread throughout the game and feature a mix of birds and small game. Success in these serves the dual purpose of providing the opportunity of challenging marksmanship practice, without penalization in the main campaign and the chance to build experience points in your overall progression. 4-person Multiplayer Mini-games In addition to the campaign mini-game action described above, Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2010 for Wii comes packed with 13 arcade style shooting galleries. Supporting 4–person multiplayer, they ensure that you will never have to hunt alone and are compatible with the Top Shot Wii peripheral, sold separately. | This is a lot of fun with the Sure Shot Rifle but takes several levels in order to get to all the hunting game. The Mallards don't seem to show up to get to the next level. |
Interesting Hunting Game

I like the graphics and effects, but I wish it had muliple-user options. Why not allow for big game hunts with 2-3 others or, at least, allow you to compare your medals and scores with others. Maybe have stats for various users.
Great Game!!

I purchased the Wii version of this game more than a month ago and I still love playing it. I have completed all twelve hunting missions. There are a couple of issues I have with it however. First,it does not allow you to access all your guns at anytime. You must chose four of them before the hunt begins and you are stuck with those unless you quit the mission and start over. Second, I wish it included more predators. For those who are having trouble killing the mountain lion in the first mission, you must fight with it as well as shoot it. When you are prompted to push a button on the screen KEEP PRESSING THAT BUTTON REPEATEDLY even when the lion is getting ready to bite you. This will throw him off you giving you a chance to shoot him. The 12 gauge kills him quickly however you will not get many trophy points for using it. I strongly recommend this game. It generates hours of family fun.

I bought this game for my husband for Father's Day yesterday and he stayed up until 1:30 in the morning playing it (even though he had to be at work at 8:00 a.m.). He enjoyed the game quite a bit, but he did find it quite a challenge to kill the mountain lion, and then the bear after that. Although he had read the advice about pressing the button repeatedly to get the lion off of him, it didn't seem to work for him and he had to move to the side when the mountain lion jumped off the mountain. Then he swung around and shot him, and continued to shoot him until he was dead. This took several tries. I am not a hunter, but my husband is. He really enjoyed the game, but said it isn't quite the same as real hunting, as you have to do some things in this game that you wouldn't do in real-life hunting in order to actually kill the animals. Still, I'm glad I bought it for him, and I imagine he will continue to get a lot of enjoyment from this game as he masters ths levels.

I purchased the game last week. I managed to play it several hours over the weekend. It is actually a pretty good game. The graphics are not perfect, but overall I would recommend the game to others who are competitive. You have the option of shooting certain animals or holding out for the Trophy prize game. Being competitive myself, I found myself wanting to hold out for the best game available to shoot, thus increasing my score.
Don't waste your money.

Very disappointed by this game. My sons can't get past the first "level" (mountain lion). Additionally, they removed all the fun features that were in the previous version such as maps, zoom and the "hunters sense". It also forces you to follow a single path versus finding your own way like in the older version. They seem to have removed all the fun and turned it into some crazy "compliance" game. Don't waste your money.
